Dr. Jérôme Lejeune declared venerable

Dr. Jérôme Lejeune, a French Catholic physician and scientist, who discovered the third chromosome 21 in Down syndrome, was declared "Venerable" by Pope Francis. Professor Lejeune refused to participate in using his discovery for Prenatal Diagnosis and abortion and therefore lost his Nobel Prize as a result.
